Becoming Conscious Allies

Becoming Conscious Allies is a presentation offered by the Fyrefly Institute for Sexual & Gender Diversity. This session will walk participants through the nuances of sexual and gender diversity. Participants will leave the workshop with a better understanding to 2SLGBTQ+ terminology, the difference between sex assigned at birth and gender identity, and actionable practices for allyship. In this session, curiosity is encouraged and participants are emboldened to learn, reflect, and ask questions.

The sessions learning objectives are:
1. To develop a comprehensive understanding of sexual and gender diverse terminology.
2. To understand the minutiae of sex assigned at birth/gender identity/gender expression.
3. To discern best practices for supporting queer and trans colleagues and coworkers.
4. To identify community resources.
